We can all agree this pandemic ruined everyone’s plans for this year - it doesn’t matter what kind of plans you had, but I’m pretty sure they didn’t happen.
One of my main goals for this year was to travel more by myself. I had my three week trip to Asia all planned for my birthday, and I was supposed to go by myself.
There’s something about solo travel that makes you addicted, and I miss it so much.
If you haven’t done a solo trip in your life… I highly recommend for you to try it. It’s a life change experience. You will start to see life in a completely different perspective.
Today I’m going to share with you what I miss about solo travel.

Podemos todos concordar que esta pandemia arruinou os planos de toda a gente para este ano: não importa o tipo de planos que tinham, mas tenho quase a certeza de que não aconteceram.
Um dos meus maiores objectivos para este ano era de viajar mais vezes sozinha. Tinha a minha viagem de três semanas pela Ásia planeada para o meu aniversário, e era suposto ir sozinha.
Existe qualquer coisa sobre o facto de viajar sozinhos que nos torna viciados, e eu tenho tantas saudades disso.
Se ainda não viajaram sozinhos na vossa vida, recomendo muito a fazer-nos. É uma experiência que vos vai mudar a vida. Começam a ver a vida numa perspectiva totalmente diferente.
Hoje vou partilhar com vocês o que tenho mais saudades de viajar sozinha.

Independence
When you travel solo, all you have is yourself. You have to rely on yourself for all the decisions, there isn’t anyone there to guide you.
This is one of the things I miss the most.
Freedom
The freedom you feel when you travel solo is unreal. You can do whatever you want, whenever you want to.
Wanna skip that boring museum? You can do it. Do you want to have a beer by yourself at 10am? Do it, no one will judge you.
Independência
Quando viajamos sozinhos, tudo o que temos é nós próprios. Temos de depender de nós para todas as decisões, não está lá ninguém para nos guiar.
Isto é uma das coisas que eu mais tenho saudades.
Liberdade
A liberdade que temos quando viajamos sozinhos é irreal. Podemos fazer o que quisermos, quando quisermos.
Querem passar aquele museu aborrecido? Podem fazê-lo. Querem beber uma cerveja sozinhos às 10 da manhã? Façam-no, ninguém vos vai julgar.
Talk to strangers
I feel more open to talk to strangers when I travel by myself. I’m usually very outgoing when I travel because no one knows me, but when I travel solo… it’s different.
The urge to make new friends is bigger, because sometimes you can feel lonely.
The feeling you can do anything
This is the best feeling. When I travel solo, I feel so powerful, I feel like I can do anything, I feel unstoppable.
Of course, I need to be careful. Just because I feel like this, it doesn’t mean I’m going to do everything that crosses my mind.
Falar com estranhos
Sinto-me muito mais aberta para falar com estranhos quando viajo sozinha. Normalmente sou uma pessoa bastante comunicativa quando viajo, porque ninguém me conhece, mas quando viajo sozinha… é diferente.
A urgência de fazer novos amigos é maior, porque às vezes podemos nos sentir um bocadinho sozinhos.
O sentimento de poder fazer qualquer coisa
Este é o melhor sentimento. Quando viajo sozinha, sinto-me tão poderosa, sinto que posso fazer qualquer coisa, sinto-me imparável.
Claro que tenho de ter cuidado. Só porque me sinto assim, não quer dizer que posso fazer tudo o que me passa pela cabeça.
Learning
Learning about history, about the culture, the language. I think this is something that I miss about travel in general, not only about solo travel.
Getting lost
I LOVE TO GET LOST!
I’m never afraid to get lost in a place, I just love it. You know the city or the place by getting lost in there, by asking the locals the way to get to your destination. Also, usually when I get lost I always find the cutest spots for pictures haha.
Aprender
Aprender sobre história, sobre a cultura, sobre a lingua. Acho que isto é algo que eu tenho saudades de viajar em geral, e não apenas de viajar sozinha.
De me perder
EU ADORO PERDER-ME!
Nunca tenho medo de me perder num sítio, adoro. É assim que se conhece uma cidade ou um lugar, perdendo-se por lá, a perguntar aos locais o caminho para o vosso destino. E também, normalmente quando me perco, encontro sempre os sítios mais bonitos para tirar fotos haha.
